Their fist two CD's, Calm Hades Float and Minnie Greutzfeld, were released on Trance Syndicate Records. Windsor For the Derby opened for Swans on its final US tour, and M. Gira was so taken with their sound and performances that he immediately offered to release them on YGR.

windsor for the derby create music that is equal parts dance and folk, a truly disparate combination of styles that comes out sounding completely organic. "'how we lost' is actually a celebratory album. it's a reflective record and, in its own way, celebrates the windsor for the derby continuum that's been culled from their first release, 'calm hades float' in to their last, 'giving up.

Windsor for the Derby's second album, 'Minnie Greutzfeldt' saw them move into a higher fidelity of sound than explored on their debut and also dare to get even more experimental, with extended passages of gorgeous windswept ambience (maybe thanks to engineer and member of Kranky's Stars of the Lid, Adam Wiltzie). There are stronger leanings toward post rock here, shown quite obviously on.

Windsor for the Derby's debut album 'Calm Hades Flesh' was originally released 10 years ago in , but Secretly Canadian have given those of us who missed it first time around another chance to taste the band's spacey post-rockisms and find out exactly where they started with this timely reissue. One for fans of Slint and very early (Ten Rapid-era) Mogwai, the band on this album aligned.
