The Rough Guide to the Music of the Himalayas brings together a wide variety of musicians. This compilation album contains music by natives from the region and artists who let themselves be inspired by magnificence of the Himalaya mountain range where India, Nepal, Tibet, China and smaller entities like Ladakh and Bhutan meet.

The notes say minute version, but to the best of my recollection, Side B is a repeat of Side A. Going from memory, the first recording on the cassette is "Phantom of the Opera (Organ Sounds)" from the BBC's "Sound Effects No. 13 - Death & Horror" LP release (this particular track was also later released on a BBC sound effect compilation CD whose name escapes me at this time, and is _not_.

The Himalayas' mountain-scape inspired awe as always, of course, but ultimately it was the soundtrack itself that lifted the movie from being merely interesting to being something sublime. Himalaya's score was even better than that for "Samsara", another excellent CD that transports the listener to the mystical Himalayan mountains/5(17).
