These two albums showcase the Syd Barrett led Pink Floyd, which was more psychedelic, a little strange, but really every bit as talented as the popular Pink Floyd of the later 's. Relics is an early Pink Floyd compilation in that it puts forth some of the great tracks from their first few albums while throwing in some B-Sides on non-album /5().

As a follow-up to Pink Floyd’s first compilation album The Best of the Pink Floyd/Masters of Rock which was released the year before, Relics covered material that took place in the late s.

‘RELICS’, Pink Floyd’s first ‘compilation’ album, includes singles, B-sides, tracks from their first three albums ‘The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn’, ‘A Saucerful of Secrets’ and ‘More’. Also, the then-previously unreleased Roger Waters song, Biding My Time, recorded in July and first released on ‘Relics.

The B-side, "Careful with That Axe, Eugene", became far more popular, as it was included on two Pink Floyd albums and played regularly at concerts through the early s. "Point Me at the Sky" was left out of the collection Relics, though it was re-issued on the CD collection The Early Singles, a bonus disc in the Shine On box set.

While "Relics" might get you off the hook from buying the soundtrack to More ("Cirrus Minor" and "The Nile Song" are two of the best tracks on there), it's suffered the fate of most premature compilations, which pull the trigger too early or become obsolete in the wake of more comprehensive packages/5(53).
