The Madeira’s new album - Ancient Winds - reinforces the band’s place at the pantheon of currently active instrumental surf bands. The Madeira already have an impressive body of work that contains many songs destined to be considered classics of the era, and there is no doubt in my mind that this album adds even more candidates to the list/5(8).

Oct 08,  · The Madeira released its fourth studio album, “Ancient Winds,” on Sept. 1. Students may be familiar with the band because Hillsdale’s own Professor of Economics Ivan Pongracic serves as the band’s lead guitarist. Like much of contemporary surf rock, “Ancient Winds” is an instrumental album.

Jan 03,  · Like all the tracks on the album, it leaves you wanting more, which is the Ancient Wind’s appeal: a record where you can land on any track and find a great cut, where the reverb and amplification are so saturated they push the riffs close to the edge, folding them inward until they almost disappear into a beautiful Kashmir cloud; or where there’s a moment of reflection, like on Dawn in.

It's the second full-length release by The Madeira, a band that plays surf music born of screaming wind over the sand dunes of the Sahara Desert. This disc contains eleven lush, intricate surf instrumentals along with two covers (including "SOS (Stomp On Stomp)" by The Atlantics). Track listing: Carpe Noctem.
